Mancala is a two-player strategy game where you scoop stones from pits and sow them around a board, trying to bank more than your opponent. This version runs free in your browser with standard Kalah rules: no download, no account, no ads, no paywall. Pick a mode and start sowing.
How the game works, in one minute
The six pits closest to you are yours, and so is the store on your right. On your turn, pick up every stone in one of your pits and drop them one at a time into the pits that follow, moving counterclockwise. Your own store collects a stone as you pass it. Your opponent’s store never does; you skip it every lap.
Two moments decide most games. Land your last stone in your store and you move again immediately. Land it in an empty pit on your side and you capture that stone plus everything in the pit directly opposite. When one player’s six pits are empty the game ends, the other player sweeps their own remaining stones into their store, and whoever banked more of the 48 stones wins.

Why play here
Most mancala sites make you sit through a video ad before your first move, then float banners next to the board while you think. This one doesn’t. There’s no ad anywhere, no account to create, and nothing to install. The page loads, the board appears, you play. It works the same on a phone in portrait mode as it does on a desktop.

Is this mancala game free?
Yes, completely. Every mode, every difficulty level, every article on the site is free, and there’s no premium tier waiting behind a login. No ads either. The site exists because the web needed one good mancala game that doesn’t interrupt you, not because it needed another ad farm.
Can I play offline?
You need a connection to load the page, but the game itself runs entirely in your browser. Once the board is up, a dropped connection won’t end a pass-and-play match or a game against the computer. If you close the tab, though, you’ll need to be online to load it again.
Which rules does this game use?
Standard Kalah: four stones per pit, an extra turn when your last stone lands in your store, and captures only when the opposite pit has stones in it. That last clause is the common tournament version; some families play it looser. The mancala rules page walks through every variation.
How do I play with a friend?
Open 2 player mode and hand the device back and forth; the board is laid out so each player reads their own row naturally. It works on one phone across a table, which is roughly how people have played this game for the last thousand years, minus the phone.
